No place I love more
This is not the place to camp for peace and quiet. It was fun with two children ages 9 and 10 though.
Thanks again to the camp hosts and all the park rangers for everything I had a great time.
The campground (We tent camped without reservations) was well cared for neat and clean with hot showers. Check in locations are easy to find and instructions were easy to follow.
Stayed here from July 8 - July 15, 2017. The campground was full nearly the entire time. The campground is alright, but it can be very noisy in the late hours. There are a lot of keyless entry beeps and chirps to be heard, especially at 7AM! There are friendly hosts on-site, and I saw a Ranger's patrol vehicle only a few times. The showers are cleaned daily, first thing in the mornings, but one must hold the water valve open at all times while in use.
The best area we could find for tent camping was along A Loop at site A21. Shady throughout most of the day, situated along the bluff overlooking the river. Each site has a water spigot and electrical hookup at this loop.
The main attraction of this area is the Buffalo National River. The river makes a bend at this point, which results in heavy recreational traffic at this site (canoe/kayak launching, floating, etc.) The red bugs/chiggers are horrible if you go hiking. Be prepared with some type of chemical repellent or proper clothing. The common fly is also a nuisance in this area.
While I was there the showers and bathrooms where shut down for some maintenance and that was the only inconvenience and the only reason I did not give it 5 star. I will go back next year because it was a great time with many great memories.
It's a great place to go to get away or to bring the family. So many things to do you can not get to all of them in the first trip. The camp hosts are first class and very good people and the park rangers are always around if you have questions.
This is an amazing place with the best camp hosts I have ever met (The Little's) we just left there sat morning after spending a week and I was so sad to leave as the camp hosts make it so welcoming. We will for sure be back.
